Yoga Basics
If…
-you start your day with stiffness and achy joints
–you’ve never tried yoga before or it has been a long time since you have practiced yoga
–you’ve tried yoga before but the classes did not resonate with you
–you are looking to improve your physical and mental health and enhance your well-being.
This class may be for you!
I created this class based on my own experiences and studies with yoga over the years combining what has worked for me and what my daily practice is based on. It includes basic yoga poses and somatic movements with a focus on the spine, shoulders and pelvis to create both strength and suppleness resulting in ease of movement in our daily activities. We will start from scratch and move slowly and carefully through poses honouring alignment and safety so that over a series of six weeks you will be ready to enter regular classes with confidence and ease.
There will be four main components to this class:
Asanas – a series of simple gentle movements that will gradually build strength, balance, endurance and flexibility and are designed to bring about greater health and well being
Breathing Practice – to revitalize or calm the body and mind
Relaxation (Savasana) – leave you with a sense of calm and ease
Meditation – a discipline of the mind that can provide release from the stresses of daily life
